Happy birthday RuBin!

2 years ago today, we made our official debut at the Creek & the Cave in LIC, during the Creek’s “Fall Up The Creek Improv Camp”.  Earlier that day, we had a tough 2 hour rehearsal with Jess Allen.  The one thing she instilled in us before our show was this: “Leave no blank space. Just get the fuck out there & do something.  Your partner will know what to do.”

At that point we didn’t have any kind of form, so we just settled with a simple montage of scenes.  That seems to be what newbie duos tend to do - ourselves included.  

Post-show, we were basking in the glow & feeling pretty high about how much fun we had.  So good, we thought we would use this video to apply for the Gainesville Improv Festival, even though we were super broke & only had 1 show.  Sure enough, about 4 weeks after this show, we got accepted!  

Sadly, we had to turn it down because of financial constraints.  But it was definitely a good confidence builder & it taught us that if we can get accepted into an improv festival based on 1 show alone, imagine what we could do with several more shows & more rehearsals under our belt.

Here’s to 2 more years of crazy fun duo improv, RuBin-style!
